Ancient Land, Renewed Spirit: A Bushwalk to the East MacDonnell Ranges
I have recently returned from a “fly in, fly out” trip to the Northern Territory to visit friends, camp out and hike in the beautiful and rugged landscape of the East MacDonnell ranges.
I was in need of a nature recharge and this ancient, beautiful land provided that in spades!
One of the many enduring, treasured memories (not far from where the picture was taken) is of last week’s big full moon lighting up the white trunk of a ghost gum close to my swag – I
watched the moon’s shadows move and morph on its bark throughout the night, a soundtrack to this light show played by a boo-book owl.
The feeling was of being part of the show, not just a spectator!
After a week of rugged gorges and sharing with folk that care for the land, I returned fully charged.
Connecting to nature, be it close to home or far, can at times take some organizing, commitment and choice- but the returns are priceless!
